Abstract

Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is a serious health problem in women of childbearing age, especially pregnant women and nursing. Timely diagnosis and correct treatment can effectively and quickly eliminate these disorders and avoid their adverse consequences.

In the treatment of iron deficiency anemia compounds with ferric hydroxide polymaltose complex are preferred, like a drug Maltofer. There are the following criteria of effective iron therapy: reticulocyte response, rise in hemoglobin levels, and disappearance of clinical symptoms of iron deficiency anemia. The treatment continues until the ferritin concentration does not exceed 50 ng/mL.
